The “Higher Education Today” Magazine Management System

One of the peculiarities of the “Higher Education Today” magazine is the absence of the Chief Editor as a single person. The Chief Editor’s functions are performed by the Chairman of the Editorial Board, which determines editorial and publishing policy, by the Deputy Chairman of the Editorial Board/Editor-in-Chief, providing financing of the magazine and organization of the editorial and publishing process, and by the Scientific Adviser, which organizes peer-review of incoming articles and their selection for publication.

Vladimir Mikhailovich Filippov, Chairman of the Editorial Board, born in 1951, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Rector of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (1993–1998 and from 2005 until now), member of the Russian Academy of Education, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation (years 1998–2004), author of more than 300 scientific works, Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Nikolai Nikolaevich Pakhomov, Deputy Chairman of the Editorial Board — Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, born in 1949, official of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Education of the USSR (years 1970–1997), scientist, working in the field of the education philosophy problems, participant of a number of international projects of UNESCO, author of the first in Russia education development concept, published more than 200 scientific works, honorable worker of higher school.

Andrei Aleksandrovich Verbitsky, Scientific Adviser, born in 1941, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education, author of the contextual training theory and head of the contextual training school, published more than 250 scientific works, honorable worker of education.

The executive branch of the magazine editorial staff is composed of the Senior Editor, Editor, Manager, Layout Designer and Proofreader.
